Lorenna has others' best interests at heart. Known for sound judgment, constructive challenges, and a commitment to building high-growth, high-performing organizations that benefit their employees and the communities they serve.

Lorenna didn't set out to be an investor — she trained as an engineer. A B.S.E. in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering at Duke, then a Ph.D. in Biological Engineering at MIT, where she spent years studying liver tissue engineering and chronic inflammation. What stuck with her wasn't the lab work itself, but the discipline underneath it: rigorous pattern recognition, testing a hypothesis against real data, tracing a problem back to its actual root cause rather than its symptoms.
Those instincts translated well into the investing world. Lorenna spent nine years at Boston Consulting Group, where she was a Managing Director and Partner within the private equity practice. She advised leading private equity investors and portfolio companies across industries and growth stages, supporting nearly 100 growth strategy and market diligence mandates, and helped build BCG's PE practice from its inception into the second-largest PE practice at the firm globally. She also led BCG's sustainable investing agenda, contributing to the creation of the ESG Data Convergence Initiative (EDCI) and helping scale BCG Spark, a pro bono accelerator supporting minority-owned businesses across the U.S.
In 2022, Lorenna joined Ariel Alternatives as a Managing Director, where she sits on the Investment Committee and leads deal sourcing, execution, and value creation, with a thematic focus on energy and utility services. She focuses on identifying scalable growth opportunities and driving long-term value through rigorous diligence and active portfolio engagement.
What she cares about most isn't just making good calls for her own portfolio — it's using that same data-driven lens to help the founders, executives, and fellow investors she works with make more informed decisions of their own. Lorenna is a thoughtful and pragmatic leader, committed to building inclusive, high-performing organizations.

On weekends Lorenna is most at home with a piece of wood — or fabric — in front of her. She picked up woodworking and sewing as a young adult, and considers both the best antidote to a week of staring at a laptop while traveling. She and her husband have also quietly built a real estate portfolio of their own over the last twenty years: ten properties across three states, and honestly, where a lot of her investing instincts were first tested, long before she ever sat on an Investment Committee.
She collects wine, skis whenever and wherever snow allows, and tries to bring the same curiosity to parenting that she brings to investing.
Whether you're a founder, a fellow investor, or an executive thinking through what's next — Lorenna would like to hear from you.
